Examining the Scene- 1.1.2
Crime Scene Investigation
When a crime occurs there are people who come and investigate the scene. They take notes on the condition of the body, heights of furniture, blood stain sizes, and anything odd that could relate to the death. They sketch the crime scene room with a key, scale, and legend. This is a skill in the biomedical sciences because the investigations are used for biomedical related experiments.

DNA Analysis -1.2.3
Gel Electrophoresis
One can identify a person through their DNA because everybody's is different. To distinguish one's DNA structure after the restriction enzymes cut the nucleotide is through gel electrophoresis. This process separates and compares the DNA pieces. The fragments move in an agarose gel at different speeds due to the varieties of lengths, and the ones on the top are the longest fregments. This is used in biomedical science in forensic and legal cases that relate to DNA profiling.

Confidentiality- 1.3.2
HIPAA
HIPAA stands for Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act. It is created to protect patients' privacy and regulate the people who have access to their medical information and procedures. It also keeps their payments for the health care services private. HIPAA makes sure patients give consent if their medical information is shared with others as well. This is important because people who work in the biomedical sciences need to know about confidentiality.

Food Testing- 2.2.1
Food Testing with Chemical Indicators
To find out if there is sugar (glucose), starch, protein, or lipids in a food we can use chemical indicators that change the color of the substance when it is present.. To find out if there is glucose we put in benedict's solution in the food solution and then place it in a hot water bath. We add Lugol's iodine and mix it with the food solution to find out if there is starch, and we add Biuret solution to the food to see if there is protein. To find out if the food consists of lipids we drop the food onto a brown paper towel and see if there is an oil mark. This is used in biomedical science because they use chemical indicators to identifiy substances.

How Much Energy is in Food?- 2.2.4
Graph Experimental Data using Logger Pro
Logger Pro is a software that is mainly used for graphing and analyzing graphs. There is a temperature probe that is placed in what is being recorded. The software allows people to set up the graph, determine how long it will record, and make a line chart when they press collect. Logger Pro can be used in any biomedical science career for an easy way to record and analyze data.

Chromosomes- A Closer Look- 3.3.2
Karyotyping
To make a karyotype of one's chromosomes, one needs to collected the cells and create a chromosome spread. The chromosomes are then stained, arranged, and numbered by size. The karyotype is arranged by largest to smallest. This is an important skill in biomedical science because the karyotype allows people to quickly identify chromosomal alterations. They can find the abnormality on a chromosome and pair it with the disease people can have.

Path of Blood in Heart- 4.1.1
Blood Flow Through a Mammal Heart
Deoxygenated blood comes into the heart through the superior and inferior vena cava into the right atrium. The blood goes through the tricuspid valve to the right ventricle. It goes through the pulmonary valve to the pulmonary artery. This brings the blood to the lungs so the hemoglobin can pick up oxygen. It comes back to the heart through the pulmonary veins into the left atrium. Blood goes through the mitral valve to the left ventricle and then through the aorta to bring oxygenated blood to the body. This is important to know in biomedical sciences because they can identify problems in the heart if they know the pathway.

Gram Staining- 5.1.4
Gram Staining
To gram stain bacteria one first covers it with crystal violet. Then, it is rinsed with water and iodine is added to it. It is rinsed once again with water and alcohol is added until all the color runs off. It is rinsed with water and safranin is added. Finally, the bacteria smear is rinsed and patted dry. Gram staining is an important skill in biomedical science because it helps people identify bacteria.
